This listing is for a hybrid stabilized rare Desert Ironwood burl with Green Alumilite epoxy resin knife handle blank, the perfect knifemaker's material for the handle of your next knife. It measures approximately 1-7/16"W x 6-1/8"L x 1-3/8" thick. The burl of the wood adds interesting color variations and designs.

The wood portion of this blank was stabilized using cactus juice stabilizing resin, which is considered the best stabilizing resin on the market. After thoroughly drying the wood it was placed under vacuum to remove all of the air, after which the resin is given several days to fully penetrate the wood, and then they are cured. We then mixed green dye into Alumilite epoxy with gold PearlEx powder and poured our mold and placed it in a pressure pot to cure and remove all air bubbles.

Although the wood portion of this blank was burl and thus may have had some soft/brittle spots initially, the stabilizing process makes it very solid and strong. There may be some slight superficial pits in the wood, but otherwise it will be very solid.

Some of the pictures may show the blank after wetting with oils in order to give you an idea of the final color when finished. There are also some pictures of the raw wood to show what it will look like when you receive it.

The blank has been milled to the size and surfaced to the extent shown, but it is not sanded or polished, since it will be finished as part of the knifemaking process.
