This is a one of a kind handcrafted item. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you will receive. This listing is for a set of stabilized bookmatched figured black walnut knife scales, the perfect knifemaker's material for the handle of your next knife. Each scale measures approximately 5/16"H x 1-7/8"W x 5-7/8"L. These walnut scales have interesting color variations and grains, as shown in the photos. This wood was stabilized using cactus juice stabilizing resin, which is considered the best stabilizing resin on the market. After thoroughly drying the wood it was placed under vacuum to remove all of the air, after which the resin is given several days to fully penetrate the wood, and then it is cured. Some of the pictures may show the scales after wetting with oils in order to give you an idea of the final color when finished. These scales have been milled to the size and surfaced to the extent shown. They are NOT sanded or polished, since they will be finished as part of the knifemaking process.
